5 km southeast of Mykonos Town lies the magnificent Platis Gialos beach. That is one of the most popular beaches on Mykonos, attracting thousands of tourists each year. What makes it so popular is the golden sand and the wonderful turquoise crystalline waters that are perfect to splash in when the sun starts to shine ever so brightly and make sunbathing rather hot. Platis Gialos is a fully organized beach, so you won’t have any trouble finding an array of hotels nearby. What’s more, if you prefer accommodation that takes only a minute or two to reach the shore, Platis is close to several of those. If you’re looking for a long beach with a bunch of sunbeds, umbrellas, and water sports facilities, Platis is the one for you. You can even sip on a refreshing beverage right there as you lay in the sun. Super comfortable loungers with seats and tables will be waiting for you to spend a relaxing day in Mykonos.

Car rental

Another option of reaching the beach is by renting a car in Mykonos. That option will cost around 10 euros per day, and you can pick up your vehicle directly from the airport, port, or your hotel. Renting a car is one of the best transportation options if you want to see most of Mykonos and discover Platis Gialos at your own pace.

Public transfers

Mykonos town also offers public transfers. You’ll see that there are two central bus stations in Mykonos town: Fabrika and Old Port. You can get a bus directly from Mykonos town (Fabrika) to Platis Gialos, several times a day.  If you’re going to the beach straight from the airport, you can also hop on a bus from the bus station outside the airport’s main terminal building. Take the bus route Airport > New Port, which is available about every 1.5 hours. You’ll be transferred to Fabrika first, where you’ll hop on another bus to reach Platis Gialos, following the route Mykonos town (Fabrika) > Platis Gialos.
